How many caterpillars does it take to satisfy a baby bluetit? Are those red beetles in your garden friends or foes? What’s the good of dead wood? And what are the tried and tested ways to get more wildlife in your garden?
Find out the answers to these and many more questions by taking part in the Wildlife Gardening Conference, being held at the Zoological Society of London Conference Centre, Regent’s Park.
There will be inspiring presentations packed with practical advice from wildlife experts Chris Baines and Ken Thompson, as well as practical workshops that will help you find out more about the myriad wild plants and animals that can thrive in a garden environment.
Tickets cost £20 and include lunch and refreshments. Conference places are limited, and early booking is recommended. Download a programme and booking form below.
All the fun of the fayre
Running along side the conference, but free and open to all, is the Wildlife Gardening Fayre. There will be a wide range of stalls dispensing helpful advice, together with a range of goods for sale including books, bird boxes and native wild flowers. There will also be a range of fun activities for children.
The fayre will take place on Gloucester Green, in the north-east corner of Regent’s Park, opposite the zoo. More information about the fayre will be posted here as the big day approaches, so keep checking back for updates.
The conference and fayre are being organised by the London Biodiversity Partnership and the Forum for Gardening with Wildlife in Mind.
London's gardens need you
In 2007 London Wildlife Trust’s garden campaign kept the loss of gardens in the public eye. In 2008 the Trust wants to get Londoners gardening for the future. Let's encourage people to garden with our changing climate and wildlife in mind. Read more about our gardening campaign
