This ancient oak-hazel coppice woodland is carpeted with brilliant bluebells in May, and is a year-long haven for birds and wild flowers.
The reserve
Throughout the year a trip through the Yeading Valley provides a beautiful insight into Hillingdon's countryside and wildlife. In spring, Gutteridge Wood comes alive with the sound of birdsong and wildflowers take advantage of the sunlight that pours through the trees. In May, a dazzling carpet of bluebell covers the floor of this ancient oak-hazel coppice woodland. As the summer progresses, the darkening woodland becomes quieter, but the surrounding meadows, including Yeading Brook Meadows, come to life. Wildflowers and grasses dominate the area, hosting an array of insect life from Roesel's bushcricket to skippers, gatekeeper butterfly and burnet moths.
