Learn how to create a wildlife pond, and about the wildlife that will use it, with exclusive access to Woodberry Wetlands between 6pm and 9pm...

Wildlife needs water, and even a small pond will quickly encourage a range of colourful wild animals to your garden or back yard. Join Alice Wickman from our Water for Wildlife project at this special members-only event, where we will be learning how to create a wildlife pond, and about the wildlife that is likely to use it.

Alice’s talk will take place in the Grade II listed Coal House at Woodberry Wetlands on Tuesday 17th April, with exclusive access to the reserve between 6pm and 9pm. Entrance is free, and the licenced bar will be open, serving drinks, nibbles and refreshments for you to enjoy, before we start at the talk 6.30pm.

Ponds provide a home to frogs, toads and newts, as well as all sorts of invertebrates, including dragonfly larvae, pond skaters and water beetles. Hedgehogs, birds and bats can all benefit. Alice will explain how to create different sized ponds, by digging, or by using a container such as a wooden half-barrel or an old sink. We will look at the best plants to include, and how to care for your pond, keeping it at its best for wildlife.

The evening will also include a look at the ongoing creation of several new wildlife ponds, which we are putting in to encourage more dragonfly and damselfly species at Woodberry Wetlands.

This event is free to members of London Wildlife Trust, but booking is essential. Please book below.
