Step into Science Wild Action Programme

Step into Science and discover how Brilliant Butterflies thrive on London’s chalk grassland nature reserves.

This is an exciting, free opportunity for young people aged 14 – 16 to learn and develop key skills in urban nature conservation. This hands-on course takes place at Hutchinson’s Bank, over a number of weeks. Join conservation professionals from London Wildlife Trust to learn about the importance of pollinating insects and enjoy the great outdoors.

Young people will gain a Level 1 Media and Journalism accreditation with Headliners (UK) and work towards a John Muir Award. Providing the unique opportunity to record experiences in a number of innovative ways.

Work gloves for the group will be covered and travel expenses within London.

We are looking for young people aged 14 - 16 to join us this autumn, in order to encourage diversity and inclusivity within the environment sector, we particularly welcome sign-ups from young people who meet at least one of the following:

  • Young people from BAME backgrounds (Black, Asian or minority ethnic),
  • Young people living in socio-economically deprived areas in London.
  • We also welcome applicants who may have SENDs (special educational needs and disabilities). Young people will need to be able to work independently at times and without 1-2-1 supervision.
