Minibeast Tuesdays at the Centre for Wildlife Gardening
About the event
Come along to fun, family activities for parents and children together, with the London Wildlife Trust at the Centre for Wildlife Gardening.
Learn as a family how to find, catch and photograph different minibeasts, then identify them with fold-out charts, books or your mobile phone. (Fascinating facts included!)
Morning Session 10.30 – 12.30 aimed at younger children
Afternoon Session 1.30 – 3.30 aimed at 7 and up If you have children in both age groups choose either or both.
Come for the morning, the afternoon or bring a packed lunch and stay all day! There is no limit to how many sessions each family attends.
Suggested donation £3 per child.

Minibeasts of the Water
Tuesday 30th July
Nets ready to pond dip for backswimmers, fly larvae, freshwater shrimps, pond skaters, water beetles, boatmen, hoglice and snails. And hopefully a frog and a cute newt!
Minibeasts of the Earth
Tuesday 6th August
Lift and look under logs and rocks for ants, beetles, centipedes, earthworms, millipedes, slugs, snails, spiders and woodlice. And try to track down a toad!
Minibeasts of the Air
Tuesday 13th August
Eyes to the sky to spot bees, beetles, bugs, butterflies, damselflies, dragonflies, flies, moths and wasps. And look and listen for birds!
Minibeasts of the Plants
Tuesday 20th August
Bush beat for beetles, crickets, bugs and spiders. Explore flowers and grass for bees, butterflies, grasshoppers and ladybirds. And search for a scampering squirrel!
Minibeasts of the Buildings
Tuesday 27th August
Hunt in and around the classroom, greenhouse, toilets and walls for ants, flies, harvestmen, spiders, woodlice and whatever else is living there! Maybe a house mouse?
