Join Sam and Cat to survey for rare and elusive great crested newts at London Wildlife Trust's Birdbrook Nature Reserve in Kidbrooke.

Great crested newts are amphibians, breeding in ponds during the spring and spending most of the rest of the year feeding on invertebrates in woodland, hedgerows, marshes and tussocky grassland. They hibernate underground, under logs, among tree roots and in old walls.

The UK's population of the great crested newt are internationally important and they are the most endangered of UK newt species.

In this two-part volunteer survey at Birdbrook Nature Reserve, a small group of volunteers will get to learn more about great crested newts and we why survey for them. Our first event is on Thursday 9th May(7.30pm -8.30pm) and the second is on Friday 10th May (7.45am-8.20am).

This surveying session is for adults or ages 16+ years accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Please contact Catherine for booking and more details.

This event is part of 'Wild About Kidbrooke Village'. London Wildlife Trust is working with Berkeley Homes to develop a dynamic green space for wildlife and people in South East London.
