FAQs

Why is London Wildlife Trust fundraising Face to Face?

Wildlife in London needs our help today. Face to Face fundraising gives us the opportunity to talk to people about the threats and pressures on London’s wildlife and why it is important to protect them. By having these conversations, we are hoping to gain more support through memberships which will enable us to do more work to create a Wild London that everyone can enjoy.

About our fundraisers

London Wildlife Trust is working with a trusted professional fundraising agency to help us grow our support and donations. The agency has a team of trained fundraisers dedicated to informing and inspiring you to protect London’s wildlife. The team work to the fundraising regulators code of practice and are regulated by the Fundraising Regulator.

How do I know if I am speaking to a London Wildlife Trust fundraiser?

All London Wildlife Trust fundraisers will be wearing:

  • Green London Wildlife Trust branded uniform

  • An ID badge identifying them as a fundraiser, with their name, photo and ID number

Unsure if you are speaking with a London Wildlife Trust fundraiser?

If you are visiting one of our reserves, you can speak with a London Wildlife Trust employee who will be able to confirm the fundraisers' identity. Alternatively, you can contact our membership team Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm by phone on 020 7803 4272 or email membership@wildlondon.org.uk

Are your fundraisers trained?

Yes, the fundraising agency that we are using has trained all their fundraisers to the highest standard and they work to the fundraising regulators code of practice. Alongside their general fundraiser training, they have received in-depth training from London Wildlife Trust so they can provide you with information about the threats facing nature across London and the different ways in which your support will help.

Are your fundraisers paid?

Yes, all fundraisers working on behalf of London Wildlife Trust are employed and paid by the fundraising agency we are working with.

All fundraisers will declare that they are paid and fundraising on behalf of London Wildlife Trust when speaking with you.

When I sign up with a fundraiser, do my donations go directly to London Wildlife Trust?

Yes, your Direct Debit is set up directly with London Wildlife Trust and all your donations will go towards helping us with our conservation work.

Can your fundraisers take a one-off donation?

Yes! Making a regular monthly or annual financial commitment does not suit everyone’s lifestyle. If you would still like to support us with a one-off donation, our fundraisers are able to take a contactless donation for an amount that suits you.

How do you monitor the behaviour of your fundraisers?

London Wildlife Trust is continuously monitoring the behaviour of the fundraisers who are working on our behalf. We want to make sure that all fundraisers are working ethically and to the guidelines and codes that they have agreed, as well as making sure they are providing you with an amazing experience.

How much personal information can the fundraisers collect?

We pride ourselves on keeping all our supporters' information safe. London Wildlife Trust and our fundraising agency always comply with Data Protection legislation.

To create a valid Direct Debit with us, our fundraisers will require your basic details and your bank details.

As our fundraisers can only set up direct debits and take contactless donations, they will never ask you for your credit card details or cash donations. If a fundraiser asks you for cash, please refuse and report the incident to us by contacting the membership team by phone 02078034272 or email membership@wildlondon.org.uk.

Will my personal details be secure?

Yes. Your personal details are entered onto a tablet which is then securely shared with us back at head office. Your details are then processed onto our database and your membership is set up.

We do not sell your details to any third parties and will only use them for the purpose they were intended for.
