Walthamstow Reservoirs, one of London’s most amazing places for birdlife, has been the focus of a London Wildlife Trust study over the last year. Natural England funded our project, and we’ve been asking the local community what they think about the idea that the reservoirs could become a stunning new nature reserve - right in the middle of the East End.
Owned by Thames Water, and already home to a broad range of wildlife species and habitats, the reservoirs are found in the Lower Lea Valley, which runs from Hertfordshire down to the Thames. We believe it has the potential to become an unrivalled greenspace resource for the local community and visitors from further afield, as well as an even better place for wildlife.
