Opportunities for young people

There are loads of ways to get involved with nature in London – whether it’s in your own community or across the wider city. Through our youth programmes, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to get stuck in: from our paid traineeships and Youth Board to the Keeping it Wild Collective. To see if there are any events for young people, check out our events page or be the first to hear about what’s coming up by signing up to our newsletter at the bottom of this page.

If you have any questions, you can reach us at youth@wildlondon.org.uk.

Keeping it Wild

Keeping it Wild is our original youth programme, which consists of our paid traineeships, Youth Board, and annual Green Careers Showcase.

Who's involved?

Faye Vogely

Faye Vogely, Head of Youth Programmes
Faye is an experienced programme manager with a background in primate conservation, community work, and youth empowerment. She’s super excited about the programmes we run, from the Traineeships to the Collective, and to see first-hand the incredible impact of young people on nature recovery in London.

Bobbi, Youth Programmes Delivery Officer

Bobbi Benjamin-Wand, Youth Programmes Delivery Officer
Bobbi was a Keeping it Wild Trainee and Youth Forum member and held a position as a ranger at Walthamstow Wetlands before returning to the Youth Programmes team. She is passionate about connecting young people with wildlife and learning about the positive impacts nature can have on young people’s wellbeing.

Katharine Townshend, Keeping it Wild Collective Coordinator
Katharine began her career in nature as a trainee with Suffolk Wildlife Trust and joined London Wildlife Trust in 2024. Her first role was as a Learning Officer, leading nature-connection workshops for schools, families, and community groups across London. She is now excited about the chance to support other young people through the Keeping it Wild Collective. She loves looking under logs for bugs and fungi and chatting to people about why connecting with local nature matters so much.

Jonathan Nobrega, Keeping it Wild Collective Assistant

Jonathan’s journey into nature began with the realisation that the sector lacked diversity — it didn’t feel right that the organisations leading nature recovery often felt exclusionary. Motivated by this, he has gone on to champion more inclusive initiatives to connect London’s diverse youth with nature. He has founded a youth-led nature society, contributed to academic research, and built partnerships between environmental organisations and youth-focused institutions.
