National Lottery players are invited to join us for a tour of Sydenham Hill Wood in south London

As part of the National Lottery's thank you campaign for players of the lottery, we are leading a guided walk to celebrate the Heritage Lottery Funded Great North Wood walk.

Sydenham Hill Wood is one of the largest remaining fragments of the historic Great North Wood, an ancient landscape of woods and commons that once stretched from Croydon to the River Thames.

The trees of Sydenham Hill Wood hide a history that spans some ten thousand years, and played a part in the development and growth of London itself.

Conservation Officer Daniel Greenwood will help you identify the different species, and explain their roles in the woodland ecosystem.
