About the event

Come along and learn about botanical printing in this tataki zomé workshop and create artwork that you can take home with you!

Tataki zomé, also known as ‘flower pounding’ or ‘plant bashing’, involves using a hammer or mallet to transfer natural dyes from leaves and flowers onto paper or fabric. This technique originated in Japan with tataki meaning 'hammering' in Japanese, and zomé meaning 'dye'.

In this workshop we will spend 30-45 minutes walking around the reserve identifying different wildflowers that are currently in bloom. The walk will be fully outdoors so dress for the weather and there may be some gentle inclines so strong stout footwear is recommended.

We'll then use some of the wildflowers you have identified to create botanical prints on watercolour paper. You can create a greeting card, bookmark or even a print to frame in your home!

Please note: this is an adults only workshop (18+)
