About the event

This friendly and relaxing workshop will take inspiration from beautifully arranged British springtime blooms and foliage from the nature reserve.

Jennie will guide you through the art of botanical illustration using pen and watercolours, with a focus on observational drawing. Jennie will be demonstrating techniques including composition and colour mixing and sharing her top tips on capturing petals on paper.

Jennie will also be sharing some of the behind-the-scenes processes that went into her flower-filled children's book 'It Starts with a Bee'. We can assure you that you'll never look at a flower in the same way again!

All materials are provided, but you're welcome to bring your own along if you prefer. This inclusive class is designed for all ability levels, especially beginners. Encouraging and full of positivity, our aim is for you to leave with a painting you can be proud of and a deep appreciation for the natural world.

A little about your tutor
Jennie Webber began Wild Life Drawing in 2014, and her magical drawing classes with real animals (and flowers!) have been raising money and awareness for conservation ever since. An artist in her own right, Jennie has illustrated a variety of nature-themed children's books and most recently has had her life size animal paintings on display at the Natural History Museum.

A little about Camley Street

Camley Street Natural Park is a unique urban nature reserve, having been saved from development and opened to the public in 1985. Historically the site was a coal drop for the railways into nearby King’s Cross Station, but today it is a pocket paradise for people and wildlife. Why not have a walk around before your session and find some botanical inspiration?
