About the event

Our expert falconer will be bringing along three majestic raptors – a kestrel, a Harris’ hawk and a lanner falcon – and as we sketch we will learn about their unique hunting styles and habitat adaptations, and falconer Paul will be very happy to answer any questions.

We will also discuss the influx of raptors thriving in the capital, and the sightings of peregrines and sparrowhawks at the London Wildlife Trust nature reserves.

The class will be led by nature-loving artist Jennie Webber. We will provide you with all the materials you need to get started, and Jennie will be on hand with plenty of creative advice, drawing from her 10 years teaching people how to sketch moving animals.

There will be drawing exercises, live demos and you'll be encouraged to capture the character of the birds on paper.

All ability levels are welcome, and all artistic styles are celebrated.

Wild Life Drawing are a small team dedicated to animal welfare and conservation. We work only with a small selection of trusted animal organisations, sanctuaries and charities that treat their animals with care and respect.

Since the classes began in 2014, Wild Life Drawing has raised £100,000 for conservation. The falconer bringing along these birds is an expert in their care, and regularly works alongside the RSPCA to rescue and rehabilitate wild raptors.

A little about your tutor

Jennie Webber is an artist and illustrator that finds all her inspiration in the natural world. She began Wild Life Drawing in 2014, and her magical drawing classes focussed on animals and plants have been raising money and awareness for conservation ever since. Jennie has illustrated a variety of nature-themed children's books and is currently working on a guide to drawing animals from life, due to be published in 2027.

A little about Grosvenor Square

Grosvenor Square Gardens is 2.5 hectares of public green space in Mayfair surrounded by 18th century town residences. It is owned and managed on a not-for-profit basis by the Grosvenor Group. The Square has been radically reimagined to demonstrate how green spaces in cities can work harder for nature, and the wellbeing of those who rely on them. The redesign transformation features 70,000 new plants, 44 new trees, new wetlands and 80,000 new bulbs.
