Join us for the FREE Green Careers Showcase

 

📅 Date: Thursday 18th September

Time: 2:00PM- 7:00PM

📍 Location: Walthamstow Wetlands, N17 9NH ///palms.hidden.memory

🙋‍♀️Who can come: *This event is aimed at supporting school leavers and those early in their careers. We estimate this ranges between 16-25 year olds but we encourage anyone who might find the event beneficial to join us.

  • Find out about training, apprenticeship and job opportunities
  • Hear from inspirational speakers about their careers
  • Try practical, hands-on workshops
  • Get CV, application and interview advice

Workshops

Practical tips and advice on job hunting, applications and interview skills in the green sector with Brian Heppenstall, Education and Careers Manager at the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management.

All workshops will run twice - Times to be announced. Booking will be available on the day on a first come first served basis.

 

How to get there

🚇 Tube/train stations: Tottenham Hale (Victoria Line/ National Rail) – 9-minute walk

Blackhorse Road (Victoria Line/ Suffragette Line) – 13-minute walk

🚏 Bus: Walthamstow Wetlands / Ferry Boat Inn (123/ 230 bus routes)

🚗 Car: Paid parking is available at the reserve entrance - postcode N17 9NH.

If you require any adjustments in order to attend the event, please email the event coordinator Pearl McLean Jennings pmcleanjennings@wildlondon.org.uk - Kindly let us know your requirements by 1st September if possible.

If you feel that transport is a barrier for you to attend please contact youth@wildlondon.org.uk after the event and we can reimburse you. There is free parking available for Blue Badge holders.

Both ramps and lifts are available in and around the Engine House building.

Disabled toilets are available.

A quiet room and prayer space will be available on site.

Dogs

Assistance dogs only

Guide dogs only. Please be advised that trained assistance dogs on duty are welcome, but in order to protect the sensitive habitat and drinking water supply, we cannot allow other dogs or pets of any kind on-site, as the wildlife may become distressed.

Mobility

The area around the new visitor centre and main path down to the pond dipping platform has accessible surfaces, whilst other footpaths around the site are surfaced in woodchip.

The visitor centre, shop and café is fully accessible, including an accessible toilet. There is a quiet indoor classroom that can be used for breaks.

Walthamstow Wetlands is a large site with several entrances and gates onto main roads. Most paths along the waterside have no railing.

What to bring

You don't need to bring anything, but if you have a CV you'd like some advice for, then do bring a paper copy or have it available on your phone.

Please come dressed for the weather as some workshops will be outside.
