Water for Wildlife Project Officer

Salary: £24,293 - £25,305 per annum

London Wildlife Trust is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to contribute to our pan-London freshwater conservation programme.

The Trust is a growing charity with a diverse range of nature reserves, conservation projects and activities working in different parts of London. Water for Wildlife is undertaking enhancements to waterbodies to enhance their benefits to biodiversity and raise their importance to a wider public.

The Project Officer will deliver aspects of Water for Wildlife in line with the project work plan, and will be responsible for delivering a coordinated volunteer training programme on surveying and monitoring freshwater habitats, with a particular focus on Odonata (dragonflies). The Project Officer will also help on the production of a dragonfly guide, and help to maintain the Trust’s relationships with partner organisations. 

The successful candidate will have significant practical experience of biological surveys and recording, data interpretation and communicating scientific findings to general public. You will evidence experience of successfully working in partnership with a variety of organisations to collect data or deliver projects. An understanding of key legislation and policy in respect of aquatic conservation is vital to this role. You will also have excellent organisational, communication (both written and verbal) and IT skills.

London Wildlife Trust manages over 35 nature reserve sites across the capital that are exemplars of urban conservation land management which engage the local communities that use these sites. The Trust delivers projects focusing on protecting priority habitats and species in London and works to influence policy makers to support this work.

This is a fixed term contract until March 2020.
