About the event

This friendly and relaxing botanical illustration workshop will take inspiration from British-grown summertime blooms as well as the newly reimagined gardens in Grosvenor Square.

Beginning with the basics of observational drawing and some fun drawing exercises, Jennie will demonstrate her favourite technique for capturing petals on paper: pen and watercolour.

We will study arrangements of beautiful British summer flowers and ferns, with the opportunity to experiment with a wide variety of different materials.

Jennie will also explain some of the behind-the-scenes processes that went into her flower-filled children's book 'It Starts with a Bee'. We assure you that you'll never look at a flower the same way again!

This inclusive class is designed for all ability levels, especially beginners. Encouraging and positive, our aim is for you to leave with a painting you can be proud of, a sense of calm and a deep appreciation for the natural world.

All materials are provided, but you're welcome to bring your own along if you prefer.

A little about your tutor

Jennie Webber is an artist and illustrator that finds all her inspiration in the natural world. She began Wild Life Drawing in 2014, and her magical drawing classes focussed on animals and plants have been raising money and awareness for conservation ever since. Jennie has illustrated a variety of nature-themed children's books and is currently working on a guide to drawing animals from life, due to be published in 2027.

A little about Grosvenor Square

Grosvenor Square Gardens is 2.5 hectares of public green space in Mayfair surrounded by 18th century town residences. It is owned and managed on a not-for-profit basis by the Grosvenor Group. The Square has been radically reimagined to demonstrate how green spaces in cities can work harder for nature, and the wellbeing of those who rely on them. The redesign transformation features 70,000 new plants, 44 new trees, new wetlands and 80,000 new bulbs.
