Milky Way Wingletang St Agnes - Ed Marshall
Stargazing at Walthamstow: The Moon
Walthamstow Wetlands,
Walthamstow Wetlands, 2 Forest Road , Walthamstow, London, N17 9NHAbout the event
What is the moon and where did it come from? How does it affect life on our planet? Join astronomy enthusiast Michael Lomotey from "StowStargazers" for this talk about the moon, earth’s only satellite but which is larger than some of the dwarf planets in our solar system. We’ll share tips for how to view it and what to see when you look.
The evening will culminate in an exclusive guided walk through the reserve with a chance to view the full moon (weather permitting). The event will take place regardless of the weather and night sky conditions, and is a chance to enjoy this wonderful urban nature reserve after hours.
It’s not essential but feel free to bring binoculars and a red-light torch. Wrap up warm for your exclusive evening tour. All profits from this event are invested into London Wildlife Trust’s conservation and education work and the care of its nature reserves.
Stowstargazers brings people together to enjoy nature whilst experiencing the night sky. We have a passion for sharing knowledge and advice on all aspects of stargazing, learning together what is on show and giving tips for how to view the celestial sights. Michael of Stowstargazers has been an avid hobby astronomer ever since being captivated by the milky way as a child. @stowstargazers
