Wild Life Drawing: Resplendent Raptors
Camley Street Natural Park,
12 Camley Street, London, N1C 4PWAbout the event
Take wing and join us after hours at Camley Street Natural Park for a fantastic, feathery evening of drawing birds of prey from life. Our expert falconer will be bringing along three majestic raptors – a kestrel, a hawk and a falcon – and we will learn about their unique hunting styles and habitat adaptations. We'll be chatting about the influx of raptors thriving in the capital, and the sightings of peregrines and sparrowhawks at the London Wildlife Trust nature reserves.
The class will be led by nature-loving artist Jennie Webber. We will provide you with all the materials you need to get started, and Jennie will be on hand with plenty of creative advice, drawing from her 10 years teaching people how to sketch moving animals. The most important thing for you to know is that there is no pressure at our classes- we believe that once we stop worrying about the outcome, drawing can be enjoyable for everyone. There will be drawing exercises, demos and you'll be encouraged to capture the character of the birds on paper. All abilities are welcome, and all artistic styles are celebrated.
While we sketch, falconer Paul will chat with us all about each species, and will be very happy to answer any questions you have.
Here at Wild Life Drawing we are a small team who are dedicated to animal welfare and conservation. We only ever work with the finest animal handlers, who treat their animals with care and respect, and healthy animals who are happy around humans. The falconer who is bringing along these birds is an expert in their care, and regularly works alongside the RSPCA to rescue and rehabilitate wild raptors.
