About the event

Can you imagine cities through the eyes of a bird? What would a city look like if it were designed not just for people, but for wings, beaks, nests, and migration paths?

Join us at Walthamstow Wetlands for a playful, interactive workshop where you’ll assume the identity of native UK birds, tackle urban challenges from their perspective, and help design a city built for more-than-human life. Expect storytelling, creative mapping, hands-on games and a chance to rethink how we share space with the wildlife around us.

Led by Aurora Jiang, an interaction designer and graduating student from Central Saint Martins, this session blends playful participation with deeper questions about design, ecology, and co-existence. Aurora’s practice explores interspecies communication, speculative futures, and how technology shapes our relationships with the natural world. Her work invites audiences to imagine how cities and technologies might adapt to support more compassionate and inclusive living — for humans and non-humans alike.

This workshop is for over 18s and young people over 12 (accompanied by an adult). Further information will be sent out prior to the event.

Donations to London Wildlife Trust are welcome and are invested into London Wildlife Trust’s conservation and education work and the care of its nature reserves.
