Crane Valley

The River Crane forms part of the West London Green Chain, a 20 mile stretch of interconnected green spaces that runs along the River Crane and its key tributary, the Yeading Brook, to the River Thames.

It is one of the most natural rivers in London, and is recognised as a vital wildlife corridor. The River Crane becomes tidal near the Thames - a feature which makes it unique amongst west London's rivers.

London Wildlife Trust has just completed a three-year habitat restoration project on a number of sites (funded by Biffa Award), and is currently delivering a community engagement project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
We co-authored the Crane element of the Area Framework for the ALGG, and are currently leading the Crane Catchment Plan on behalf of the Crane Valley Partnership, which will scope out priorities for delivering the Water Framework Directive.
