Event details

Wed, 13/02/2019 - 8:00am - 9:30am

Join us for a guided walk of Grangewood Park looking for woodpeckers and other feathered creatures.

Woodpeckers are a key species of the Great North Wood, a wooded landscape which once covered a huge area of south London and which now exists as an array of woodland fragments including Grangewood Park.

Colourful and charismatic, Great Spotted Woodpeckers fill the wood with their distinctive drumming in late winter and early spring. Green woodpeckers, with their equally vivid plumage, can be recognised by their laugh-like 'yaffle'. Find out more about these fascinating creatures with our ecologist Tony Wileman.

This walk is open to all. Suggested donation £2. No need to book.
